Thanking Mom en el Dia de las Madres
Mother’s Day is just around the corner and every year when my mom was alive, I often wondered what to get her. Sometimes, it was coupons for things she needed, sometimes it was a sweater she wanted, and other times, the knickknacks that she loved to surround herself with.
However, her favorite Mother’s Day gift was a reading of The Giving Tree and a heartfelt Thank You. She loved knowing that all of the work, sacrifices, and love she had bestowed on her kids made a difference and that they recognized and appreciated that difference.
Yes, mothers are very special to us and hold a special place in the hearts and souls of Latinas. We are wonderfully close to our moms and we love them dearly. We laugh with them, cry with them, fight with them, and love them. It is a bond that lasts beyond a lifetime.
